Sue Sutton Puppy Training
My love of dogs has always been my life, but in 1976, when my husband bought me a puppy, I began training
and competing in the world of dogs.
I started obedience classes in 1979 in Greenville, Maine.
In 1989 Betsy Newman Miller, who teaches Back to Basics,
asked me to hold classes as she was moving away.
I have since held group and private training through the
YMCA and at our home/ facility.
In 1991 I studied with Gail Tamases Fisher and
have been using her technique for motivational training ever since.
Gail Fisher and Joachim Volhard have co-authored many training books,
including, but not limited to, "Step by Step Training"
In competition I have been awarded "Top Dog" in Canada for Companion
Dog Excellent (CDX), High in Trial for obedience in Companion Dog (CD) in
the US, and have placed titles for obedience on 20 dogs in
the US and Canada.
I have trained a Service Dog for our Autistic daughter who is now
28 (our most rewarding task). Some of our dogs have performed scent
work, hunting skills, as well as Therapy Work in nursing homes and
hospitals--and all are great couch potatoes.
In conformation competitions, we have been invited and exhibited at
the Eukanuba Dog Show in Tampa, Florida. Westminster Kennel Club in New York
City is another show we have attended and exhibited several times with
our dogs. Titles for over ten Champions in the U.S., Canada, and
Bermuda have been achieved by our dogs. Our kids have been involved
and titled some of these dogs growing up.
In 1988 I was asked to groom dogs for the community by our local
Veterinarian. Since then people in the community have asked me to take
care of their pets in many ways. My love for dogs really holds no
limits. I continue to learn and enjoy working with pets and their
owners. Making them a happy family and enjoying the rewards of a home
with a furry friend lasts a lifetime.
Pups in training will live in our large country home with my husband, myself and our companion pets,
and will follow a daily routine.
Puppies will experience "Sesame Street" learning with
a soft touch and fun spirit during this critical time in their development.
Some of the exercises puppies will experience will be:
~social skills- exposure to life skills and environments
(children, noises, crates, other pets, car rides, water)
~behavior skills- housebreaking, sit, down, stand, walk easy on leash,
come when called, share, wait/stay
~health skills- hygiene- bath, nails, ears, examinations, hair and tooth brushing
I want the transition of your new companion to be successful in many ways; therefore, a
a questionnaire will be provided along with follow-up and take home notes.
Customized training is available (clicker, special needs).
An additional fee may be required
Fee $500.00 - 3 weeks
Additional weeks - $150.00 per week
$75.00 non-refundable booking fee. Fee deducted from final cost.
